Overview:

WiredPeople is looking for a Technical Writer to join our public health teams. This role is part-time, 20 hours per week, and will work remotely. This job is slated to start on 7/1/2024.

The ideal candidate is a high-energy individual with excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Drafts reports, briefings, and presentations upon request.
  • Gathers data, statistics, and qualitative information from a variety of sources to inform the content of reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Drafts and edits annual reports to meet statutory and policy requirements that effectively communicate the impact, outcomes, and achievements of the grant program to various audiences.
  • Analyzes data and metrics related to grant activities, outcomes, and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Collaborates with program managers, grant managers, and other stakeholders to gather information for inclusion in reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Ensures that all information in reports is accurate, compliant with grant guidelines, statute, and policy and presented in a clear and transparent manner.
  • Follows department policy for branding, formatting, and style.
  • Manages timelines and deadlines for the completion of reports, briefings, and presentations, coordinating with team members, executive leadership, and other stakeholders as needed to ensure milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with the grant managers, advisory boards, committees, and or councils to draft documents for the administration and management of grants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Three years of proven experience in technical writing, reporting, or grant writing, with a focus on producing high-quality, data driven content.
  • Three years of researching, gathering, and organizing information and data from diverse sources.
  • Three years of experience editing and proofreading documents, briefings, and presentations.
  • Three years of experience with grant programs, funding mechanisms, and reporting requirements.
  • Three years of communicating with internal and external partners using a variety of tools and methods (verbal, written, presentation, etc.).
  • Three years of experience using MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
