Staff Psychiatrist

 Overview:
WiredPeople is seeking a dedicated Staff Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care in a long-term inpatient forensic facility. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality mental health services for patients with complex psychiatric and legal needs. 
The facility is located in Farmington, Missouri, has a small town’s friendliness and charm while being only about an hour from St. Louis and all the amenities of a large city. This position is full-time and onsite in Farmington, Missouri. 

Essential Functions:

• Patient Load for full-time – average 40 patients (2 wards) – required to be seen monthly and as needed (daily not needed unless on special precautions)
  • Legal status of patients – NGRI, VBG (voluntary by guardian), PIST (permanently incompetent to stand trial), VBG formerly PIST, SVP (sexually violent predator)
  • Most Common Diagnoses – Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Substance Abuse Disorders, Paraphilias
  • NGRI and SVP status require court ordered conditional release
• Complete patient visits/notes – at minimum - monthly summary, during the month as needed, annually, on admission and discharge
  • Diagnosis and treatment including medications, therapy, referrals and consultations as needed
• Participate in weekly treatment team meeting/ward (consists of nurse, psychologist (or designee), social worker, pharmacist, recreation staff, primary care physician, and dietary staff
• Cover as Psychiatric Officer of the Day (OD) 2-4 times per week (coverage is split into 2 shifts/day/M-F of 7am-12pm and 12pm-5pm - on-call takes over after hours)
• Hours – 40 hours per week
  • No on-call required – No weekends or holidays required, unless you would like to work on-call
  • On-call offered, coverage for medical and psychiatric needs – Physician on premises 24hours/day, 7 days/week – receive additional pay
• Admit and discharge patients – average patient stay is longer - average several months not days.
• Participate in meetings as needed (6 times per year medical staff meetings, as needed with teams to discuss patient concerns, case consultations, special staffings, etc.)
• Other duties as credentialed may include – supervision of psychiatric services and coordination of other treatment modalities, supervision of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, initial treatment planning, comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment planning, Individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy in Family therapy, Behavior therapy, Substance abuse treatment, evaluation for guardianship, conditional and unconditional release evaluations, and court testimony.

• A full and unrestricted Missouri license is required.
• Forensic psychiatry training or experience is preferred.
