About the Role:

We are urgently seeking a highly skilled Lead Cloud Engineer to oversee, secure, and optimize our cloud infrastructure. In this critical role, you will be responsible for running and managing robust cloud environments with a heavy emphasis on security, compliance, and automation. The ideal candidate will be a Microsoft Azure expert who can proactively identify vulnerabilities, manage SIEM tools, and ensure our systems meet rigorous federal security standards. This position is a full-time and fully remote role. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cloud Environment Management: Lead the day-to-day operations, configuration, and management of enterprise-grade cloud environments, primarily within Microsoft Azure.

  • Security & SIEM Implementation: Deploy, configure, and manage Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, with a specific focus on utilizing Microsoft Sentinel for threat detection and response.

  • Vulnerability & Threat Management: Continuously monitor cloud networks, check IP addresses and traffic logs, and proactively scan for and remediate any system vulnerabilities.

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure all cloud architectures and processes strictly adhere to NIST 800-53 security and privacy controls.

  • Release Automation: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to fully automate software releases and infrastructure provisioning.

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the primary subject matter expert for cloud infrastructure and security, guiding best practices across the engineering team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Mandatory Cloud Experience: Must have extensive, hands-on experience building and managing environments in Microsoft Azure.
  • Security Standards: Proven, practical experience working with and implementing NIST 800-53 compliance controls.

  • SIEM/Sentinel: Experience implementing SIEM solutions; must have used or be highly familiar with Microsoft Sentinel.

  • Vulnerability Assessment: Strong background in network security, including checking IP addresses, monitoring traffic, and resolving system vulnerabilities.

  • Automation: Demonstrated ability to automate software releases and deployments using modern DevOps tools and practices.

  • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating technical risks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure Certifications (e.g., Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), Azure Solutions Architect Expert).

  • Previous experience working within public sector, emergency management, or highly regulated IT environments.
