Overview:

WiredPeople is seeking a Medical Record Abstractor to join our public health team. This role is part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and will operate remotely within Florida.

The ideal candidate is a high-energy individual with excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive assigned cases from the Florida MMRC coordinator every quarter.
  • Contact hospitals and health care providers to arrange access to medical records for 
    assigned cases.
  • Review and abstract information from medical records, autopsies, social service 
    records, prenatal screens, from hospitals, doctor offices, medical examiner offices, 
    clinics, and other record sources to complete the data elements found in MMRIA.
  • Enter abstracted case information into the MMRIA system and develop a case 
    narrative summary for each case in preparation for the quarterly committee case 
    review.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through the abstraction 
    process, including securely storing and transmitting case information.
  • Attend the Florida MMRC quarterly case review meetings and be prepared to
    present their findings from case abstracts.
  • Attend suggested and required ongoing training on the Florida MMRC case 
    abstraction and informant interview process.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience and knowledge working in obstetrics, antenatal, and postpartum care.
  • Must be a registered nurse with an active license within the State of Florida. 
  • Strong professional communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including data entry experience and ability to navigate a variety of electronic medical record systems.
  • A valid Florida driver license and valid auto insurance.
  • Ability to enter data in an accurate and timely manner and synthesize critical information into a succinct yet comprehensive narrative.
