Overview:

We are actively recruiting experienced EMTs and Paramedics to support the operational staffing needs of the Clemson University Fire & EMS (CUFD) department. This is a temporary, full-time contract assignment for approximately 90-180 days. In this role, you will integrate directly with existing CUFD crews to maintain reliable 911 ambulance operations and support the safety of the university community. Personnel will operate under CUFD policies, protocols, and medical direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to 911 EMS calls, providing high-quality ALS/BLS patient care within your scope of practice.

  • Operate as a fully integrated member of a Clemson University Fire & EMS field crew under the daily supervision of CUFD leadership.

  • Accurately and promptly complete electronic patient care documentation.

  • Maintain the operational readiness of assigned apparatus, medical equipment, and supplies.

  • Participate in daily station duties, readiness checks, and other shift activities.

  • Provide medical coverage for planned special events and support emergency operations as assigned.

  • Comply with all CUFD policies, procedures, medical protocols, and safety requirements.

Shift & Schedule Options

The primary assignment will be a 24-hour on-duty / 48-hour off-duty schedule. We will also consider candidates available for the following supplementary schedules:

  • Special Events: 4 to 12-hour shifts

  • Rotational: 12-hour or 24-hour shifts every 6 days

  • Standard: 40-hour work week

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: Current South Carolina EMT or Paramedic certification (or the ability to obtain it before the assignment begins).

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a high-volume 911 ambulance setting.

  • Life Support: Current BLS certification. ACLS and PALS certifications are also required, as applicable to your certification level.

  • Timeline: Ability to complete the credentialing process and be on-site working within 2 weeks of an assignment request.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working within a fire-based EMS system.

  • Familiarity with software such as First Due, Pulsara, and/or Power DMS.
